Click here for additional information.BURN BAN REINSTATEDDue to the lack of rain and the resulting dry, hazardous burning conditions, Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner has reinstituted the burning ban in Brunswick County and asked that citizens refrain from outdoor burning until further notice. The countrywide burning ban prohibits open burning within 100 feet of occupied dwellings.This burning ban is being re-enacted with the hope of preventing large fires such as those the region has experienced in the recent days. Although this ban does not apply to recreational fires such as charcoal or propane grilling, citizens are urged to be extremely cautious with any type of outdoor fire. Citizens are also advised to be cautious when smoking outdoors, and to dispose of cigarettes in the proper manner.The National Weather Service is not forecasting any significant rainfall over the next week. This weekend is expected to be breezy and dry, and the fire danger will remain high.For further information, contact the Brunswick County Fire Marshal's Office at 910-253-4376.NOTICE OF IRRIGATION BANBecause of the current water pressure problems, the North Brunswick Sanitary District is issuing a ban on lawn and shrubbery irrigation between the hours of 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Violation of this irrigation ban shall subject the violating person to the penalties provided by Article 2, Part 2, of Chapter 130A of the General Statutes of North Carolina. The District is currently working with Brunswick County to correct these problems as soon as possible.
